Meet the Band: Buck Martin

Buck Martin plays fiddle at Cadillac Dance hall with Eddie Shell & the Not Guilties

Known as the Best little dance hall in Texas, Cadillac Dancehall has a storied cowboy history on Dos Conchas Ranch, bringing country music and an old-time hill country experience to thousands every year. Hosted by house band Eddie Shell and the Not Guilties, they invite country and dancehall legends monthly. The performance delights Marble Falls crowds (and beyond!), entertaining with a large repertoire of country, Rock n Roll, a little blues and R & B - and even a few Eddie Shell originals.

We’d like to introduce the talented members of the band. Meet fiddle player, Buck Martin!

Buck Martin grew up in San Saba, Texas, listening to Ray Price, Johnny Bush, Darrell McCall, Tony Booth and Bob Wills. He especially liked the fiddle and steel guitar in these artist’s music.  After graduating from Texas A&M in 1978 he moved back to San Saba and began learning to play the fiddle. Shortly thereafter, Roy A. Lee, MD, a doctor and fiddle player, moved to town and set up a medical practice. Occasionally, he had musicians that would visit and have jam sessions. Among these were songwriter and keyboard player, Ronnie Mack, guitarist Bucky Meadows, steel guitar player Don Ricketson, and fiddle players Dale Morris, Sr. and Bob White. Each of these taught him about music and inspired him to play. Other influences are Tommy Jackson, Hank Singer, Bobby Flores, Johnny Gimble and Randy Elmore.

He has played with country and western bands in the Central Texas area since 1988.
